What do you think about the 2nd idea? Cause IMO that would be what one
actually wants in order to quickly see what part is the prefix, but not
be distracted by too many (and "incompatible") colours.
So I assume we're not talking about the completion prefix here, but the
colors from colored-stats (which has lower precedence than the prefix).
It's an interesting idea, but I'm not looking at doing it right now. It's
lower priority.
