Fair enough. For the record, xterm emits at least some CSI u sequences with
this configuration
xrdb << EOF
XTerm.vt100.formatOtherKeys: 1
XTerm.vt100.modifyOtherKeys: 1
EOF
Sadly, having a shell enable CSI u is a bad idea because child processes
probably can't handle them..
