      I am currently using readline8.2, the problem still 
exists.

The key sequence I gave was just an example, not something that your
backspace key might output. If you don't have success with the options
in Branden's message, you could look at the output of `stty -a' and see
what your terminal erase character is.

And you don't need to modify the source code; modifying ~/.inputrc or
/etc/inputrc is sufficient.
