bug in date:

from date --help:

  %V   week number of year with Monday as first day of week (01..52)
                                                                 ^^

try it:
> date -d '31 dec 1998' '+%V'
53

I think it's a documentation error, 53 should be correct.

BTW: is %V the ISO week number ? (It seems to be that way.)
