Subject: bug in date utility?
Hi,
1. I am not sure that hit a bug or no, but I found the following strange behaviors
using "date (GNU sh-utils) v2.0 Written by David MacKenzie" on a RH6.1 box with
glibc-2.1.2-11:
[root@yaas /root]# date -d "`date +%s` sec ago"
Thu Jan 1 03:30:00 IRT 1970
[root@yaas /root]# date -d '1 jan 1970' +%s
-12600
which as the man page says, I expected to receive "Thu Jan 1 00:00:00 IRT 1970" and
'zero' instead! What do you think about it?!
2. Proffer: Two another very beneficial GNU extensions on % formatting options can be
somethings which display
"days since Jan 1, 1970" and "seconds since begin of the current year/day".
Regards,
