I can't take credit for this, it was posted by Carlos E. Gorges on the Linux Kernel Mailing list, however it's something that I think may be useful to include in the source code for shellutils.
This patch makes uname's -p check in the linux /proc/cpuinfo file for the vendor_id field. It may be more useful to use the 'model name' field; I'm not too fluent in C, but that shouldn't be too hard to alter. -- Rando Christensen <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
