Sorry if this is related to my own setup, and not uname in general...

But I use Gentoo linux (and uses scripts that for instance uses 'uname -r'). When I type

uname -r
I get the following output:
2.4.19-gentoo-r7

Even though that was my old kernel (which I deleted some time ago). The symlink that describes which kernel version to use is pointing to /usr/src/2.4.19-gentoo-r10 not as indicated /usr/src/2.4.19-gentoo-r7.

My bzImage (the kernel Image) is also in the correct position... which kindda makes me wonder what else could be wrong... - made me think that there might be something wrong with me or uname...
