Hello. It seems that there has been a behavior change between tar 1.14 and 1.15. With versions previous to 1.14, I have always been able to create a tar file by using the command "tar -c <file or directory to be tarred> -f <tar file of file or directory> and a tar file is produced. With versions 1.15 and 1.15.1, garbage is printed to STDOUT, rather than the file given with -f.
If this is expected, I'd like to kindly ask for the coders to rethink this change in behavior from what has worked for so long. Otherwise, a fix would be much appreciated.
