Hello Today I'd like to tar some files using tar and bz2 method. I entered a bad syntax and my files were overwrited. Of course it was my fault, but i think that tar should first check what's going on with files.
So I entered tar -cjf sample.txt sample.txt.bz2 - bad syntax! and imho tar should check that file sample.txt exist and stop doing everything. But tar create new empty filename called sampe.txt and overwrite all datas. After that throw exception. What do you think about it? Regards Przemass
