Thanks for the bug report. The failures for extrac09.at and listed03.at are, I suspect, a known problem; see the thread containing <http://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/bug-tar/2010-07/msg00035.html>. The test 36 failure is new, though. It's not clear from the bug report whether this is a bug in your shell (which our test case should be changed, to work around the bug) or a bug in tar itself. To help track this down, can you send us the ktrace output for the offending test? I don't have easy access to an OpenBSD host, but if I'm right, the following should do the trick. (You might have to compress the output to make the email manageable in size.) cd tests ktrace -df tr make check TESTSUITEFLAGS=36 kdump -f tr
