Hi, we are packaging GNU tar for Solaris and since tar 1.24 we've been seeing segfaults when extracting archives (testing and creating archives works fine). It doesn't seem to be specific to a single archive. Even an archive created with GNU tar itself causes a segfault. It seems to be specific to
* the architecture: x86 (SPARC is fine) * the tar version: 1.24+ (pre 1.24 is fine) * the Solaris release: 10U9 (pre 10U9 is fine) There's a longish stacktrace from a non-stripped tar available at http://buildfarm.opencsw.org/~maciej/gtar.pstack Reproduceable (given the above constraints) via: $ wget https://gar.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/gar/csw/mgar/pkg/examples/multiple-versions/trunk/files/hello-0.1.0.tar.gz [^] $ gtar xfvz hello-0.1.0.tar.gz Segmentation Fault (core dumped) Any idea what's going wrong? Please let me know if we can provide any further information. Sebastian
