Okay, FYI, here is the output of `man mp3asm'. It contains control
sequences (for example, 2 backspaces at the beginning). Obviously
your assumption was right. The variable seems to contain the man
output.
BTW, this looks similar to what cat ...undocumented.7.gz | nroff -man
produces (although this is man related ;-)
