One more time: @infoversion does *not* introduce incompatibilities.
Documents can elect to omit it.

Conversely, the *absence* of @infoversion precludes the possibility of
non-compatible but substantial improvements later. The reason is that in the
absence of a version number, makeinfo version 19 will have a hard time
knowing that the input was built for makeinfo version 7.

I am not arguing for an incompatible change. I am trying to argue for a
change that will expand the space of possible future designs *without*
losing backward compatibility.
