Texinfo version 4 (as found on beta release 20010206 of TeXLive 6,
downloaded from CTAN). i686 running RedHat 6.2. All .texi files give
this problem (see below) with texi2dvi; texi2pdf does not.

Sebastian: Not sure if this is the sort of thing you deal with or if I
should send this directly to the texinfo maintainers; I'll forward it to
them anyway ... The texi2dvi script (in the latest Texlive download) hangs
if the environment variable TEX is set to 'latex' (as it is, for instance,
if one uses latex for typesetting metapost labels) -- line 377 of the
script is the problem.
