Please tell the numbers of a few lines from texinfo.txi where you get
those problems with the current version of multi.c. I need this
information because I weant to be able to reproduce the problem and
make sure the solution indeed solves it.

My makeinfo is also built with a non-glibc implementation of malloc,
and yet I never saw any problems.
