Right. Somehow I got removed from the bug-texinfo list and never put
back on until today. Sigh.
Below is a patch relative to \texinfoversion{2001-07-31.06} (coming
with texinfo 4.0d) which fixes problems with pdf bookmark generation.
I've made a lot of changes to texinfo.tex since July 2001, including a
bunch related to pdf (including removing that @ in \mkpgn). I'm sorry,
but this patch won't apply as it is.
I'm not claiming what you reported is fixed, but can you try with the
current texinfo.tex please? Otherwise, I will try to figure out what
you mean by "incorrect bookmarks", but it might be a few days.
