Ah. I wasn't thinking that the existing script could be used, but
rather that the translation would have to be added to makeinfo.
Otherwise there's multiple implementations of the source language to
keep in sync. But there's no doubt that using the script would be a lot
simpler in the short run.
The content of --help is usually inadequate to create a
manpage. It doesn't contain an overview description, anything to
create the SEE ALSO section out of, or even complete documentation of
the options.
Sure it does. Or at least, it can. It all depends on what the author
puts into it, obviously. ls --help is a lot more complete/useful than
gcc --help, for example, so generating the man page from ls --help works
out well enough. Anyway, whatever. I recognize that both methods are valid.
Which is basically what I had, only with @man synopsis ... @end man
instead of your @manpart ... @endmanpart.
