I had the following problems with the dvi
    output of texinfo 4.2:

Thanks for this report too :).

    - The vertical spacing of the @verbatim
macro is wrong. In particular, the bottom
      margin is too small.

Can you send me the example that fails, please? It looks ok to me.
Well, actually, it seems to me that the space above is too big (because
the newline on the @verbatim input line caused output), rather than the
space below being too small. I fixed that.

    - A '<' character in the very first column within
a @verbatim macro was ignored, i.e. not printed.

Oops. Also fixed. I updated ftp://ftp.gnu.org/gnu/texinfo/texinfo.tex
with these changes, if you want to try it out.

    - A @LaTeX{} macro for the LaTeX logo is missing.

I've just been using La@TeX{}, which I know is not correct, but maybe
it's close enough ... It doesn't come up that often.

I agree that this is tricky but would be very nice, too.

What would be tricky about it? Getting it right in all the possible
font permutations? I'd hope I could copy it from the LaTeX source, but
I suppose it's not that easy.

    - @uref output is not broken which can cause very
      poor paragraph layout.

I agree. I want to import url.sty to do line breaking in url's, but
haven't accomplished it yet.
