Hello,

It appears that a bug was introduced between info 4.2 and info 4.7-2 (4.8.1 also has the problem) that is causing the info dir to be repeated 4 times (I can scroll down and see the directory repeated 4 times when opening the top node).

Also, when I view the gcc documentation with info, I get a message that says the gzip CRC is bad.  When I browse through the documentation with info, I get to a point where I just see garbage.  I found that if I decompress the info file with gzip directly that I don't get the same status message and the file decompresses just fine.  Does info have gzip decompression built in or does it call it externally, and if so, is it possible that the internal gzip has a bug that has since been fixed?
