Why does it matter?  It works with real browsers, that's what I care
about most.  W3C standards are hardly the most practical in the world.

In fact, I never specifically attempted to make the HTML output be
stricly compliant with any given version, all of which had their own
problems.  I tried to make it work in the real world.

I'm not terribly opposed to it, but I see no real reason to do so, either.
