Yes, we build the HTML manual in all languages and the Info manual in English. > If so, could > you see if version in the 4.9.90 pretest (alpha.gnu.org/gnu/texinfo) has > any problems? As I now manage to run autogen.sh successfully, I've tested today's CVS Texinfo. The new behaviour of makeinfo regarding UTF-8 encoding is no longer what we expect when building lilypond HTML manual: we expect makeinfo to translate @documentencoding UTF-8 as <META HTTP-EQUIV="Content-Type" CONTENT="text/html; charset=UTF-8"> regardless of makeinfo UTF-8 knoweledge. I agree it is safer not to allow unknown encodings in makeinfo, so if it is a deliberate design decision, we will stick with makeinfo 4.8 to build LilyPond manual. I hope I could help adding real UTF-8 support in makeinfo, but I will have time for this only in Summer 2008. Cheers, John
