Actually, we are only migrating the HTML generation, but of course not the PDF generation (which looks gorgeous with texi2dvi!). There were several reasons, among them that we can now easily generate a page layout like: http://kainhofer.com/~lilypond/texi2html-out/Documentation/user/lilypond/ I'm still fighting with CSS issues in IE, so please don't use that browser yet with the that page; Also, the graphical design is not yet finished, so please don't complain about the colors. That page does not use frames, and additionally, we can expand the current section and highlight the current page in the TOC... Notice also that with texi2html, we have full control over which sections go into which file (e.g. all the unnumbered nodes in section 1.1.1 are now in the same file...). We can also implement a macro @translationof: @node translated section name @section Translated section title @translationof original title used for the file name so that all translations use the same file names (based on the original english names), but translated section titles Okay, these are some of the reasons, why makeinfo --html was too limited for our visions of the documentation... I'm sure, Graham or John can give you more detailled arguments.
