Subject: @cindex adds vertical space where none is desired Thanks for the report. I'm looking at it. FWIW, it happens because of (a) the precise text of the first paragraph completely filling up the last line, and (b) the lack of a blank line before the @cindex in the source.
So you can get your report done just by inserting the blank line without waiting for us to track down the TeX oddities causing it ... karl
