Actually, the problem is a little more interesting than
you're implying. The slanted type is still monospace,
Ah, right. I'd forgotten that was already done.
But space is being added to the right
of each @var block.
Thanks for the test case. Italic corrections are coming into play. I
changed the definitions so that ic's are not inserted inside monospace
environments, as you suggest. I checked it into CVS, but didn't push it
out to the release areas yet, since I discovered another undesirable
ic-related behavior (unrelated to monospace blocks) I need to discuss
with my texinfo.tex comrade.
