Most probably this feature is there to emulate Emacs. > Tilde expansion is done by the shell so there's no need for Info to > do it as well. ??? When I type "C-x C-f" in Info, no shell will help me expand the tilde in the file name I type after that. Likewise if I want to specify a file name in the argument given to the 'g' command.
