Processing @-commands within @displaymath could be useful for using @macro's and consistency with @math. Apart from that, the only command that I can imagine people having to use inside @displaymath would be @@ to get an @. I don't think it matters that much. Would you be able to implement it? I made @displaymath a lot like @verbatim, but maybe there is another command that is more appropriate. People might also put other Texinfo commands inside the block, like @sub or @sup, but that shouldn't be encouraged, as that won't work with MathJax. (Also, \mathopsup won't work with MathJax either.)
