Could we (you) use the HTML4 DTD to validate texi2any's output? Is that what you did before? Please note I am not proposing we use any of the new tags introduced in HTML5, as there is no apparent need for them and we like to support old browsers for as long as possible. (They could gradually come in over time as there is a need to use them.)
