I'm not sure we should even bother, at least with this example. Both spellings are strictly-speaking correct, they just replace one letter by another. So it's the problem of the author to decide which letter to use. Re the question about gettext and *.po files: isn't that a system-level issue? How is this resolved in programs other than Texinfo?
