-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Well, folks, I think it's time for me to step down as Wget's maintainer. It's been a fun run since I took up the mantle only two and a half years ago, and a terrific experience for me. However, lately it's become increasingly difficult to find the time necessary to dedicate to the project, and it has gone through a couple of months-long stand-still periods when I simply didn't have the available time and/or energy.
I'm excited about many of the improvements that were made to Wget during this time. Many of the ones I'm most thrilled about were not written by me, and yet I got to share in the joy all the same by seeing them included. If I do find myself with free time to work on projects, I may well decide to spend it on a project that matches some of the ideas that had been tossed around for a "Wget 2.0" thing, which I had always felt would in reality be a wholly separate project anyway. I'm particularly interested in experimenting with a "wget" that had been split apart into several discreet programs with distinct responsibilities, with a greater focus on taking advantage of some of the things that make Unix-like systems great (sorry, Windows folks! ;) ) I intend to continue to be involved with the Wget community, and possibly even with development; I will certainly do my best to ensure a smooth transition to the next maintainer, whoever that may be. But I feel that my time as a maintainer should come to an end now. Cheers! - -- Micah J.
