Indeed, I agree. I would have thought that the method of compilation should not effect a constant value set by the source distribution that should never be changed, and would not expect that to happen by autoreconf --force ./configure <anything> make but obviously it is happening. The wget 1.15 included with openSUSE 13.2RC1 does nto have the problem so it's probably not worht following up further. Thanks for your reply Tim.
