What was the exact command line that you used? And what was the output of Wget? Preferably with --debug option.

We need more data if we are to debug your issues.

I am trying to check if the file exists in my git repository using wget
--spider command.

I am getting the "200 OK file exists" response for both existing and non
existing files.
