I have seen this with WolfSSL, setting a single certificate does in fact *add* the certificate to whatever the system environment provides.

So instead of seeing the expected error, the executed wget2 command succeeds. Is there a chance that you built with WolfSSL. Maybe provide the config.log file, these details are all in there.
