All of the install procedures went OK. I used the following command set
as recommended on Tim's page:

    gzip -cd xboard-*.tar.gz | tar -xvf -
    cd xboard-*/
    ./configure --prefix=$HOME
    make
    make install

When I run xboard, it crashes immediately, and I get the following error
windows:

Fatal Error - Error writing to first chess program; Broken pipe

Fatal Error 2 - Failed to start the first chess program gnuchessx on localhost;
gnuchessx; no such file or directory

Fatal Error 3 - Error writing to first chess program; Broken pipe

Fatal Error 4 - Error writing to first chess program; Broken pipe

Fatal Error 5 - Error writing to first chess program; Broken pipe

I'm a total linux newbie, so I'm sure it's operator error on my part, but if
you could help me out I would appreciate it.

Best regards,

Jan
