Follow-up Comment #2, bug #34095 (project xboard):
I invoked
git clone git://git.savannah.gnu.org/xboard.git
I built on an Intel Core 2 Duo x86-64 MacBook under OS X Lion 10.7.1.
The issue occurred even after I deleted ~/.xboardrc
Note: I just built again from xboard.git, this time on a Mac Pro under 10.6.8.
The issue is not present in this build. Perhaps it's related to the Apple llvm
compiler that's default with Lion; I'll try testing further later.
BTW---there's a #include <malloc.h> in xhistory.c that prevents compiling
under OS X, and is not needed under OS X.
