Follow-up Comment #2, bug #43112 (project xboard):

The .Xdefaults method itself is working for other programs and it had been
working for an older version of XBoard (I don't remember the number but it was
the one before „Auto-InputBox PopUp“ was introduced) in my new system. And
as to why I want to alter the default binding, I never can remember which
F-key does what. That's why I have been using 'd' for draw 'r' for rematch and
'q' for resign (mnemonic „quit“) for many years. Especially if you are
under time pressure and want to claim a draw by repetition you need to be
fast.
