Hmm, this could actually be a bug. You need to send some command to FICS
to get the notifications, and I am sure the back-end does that at
startup when the option is set, or it would never work. But the
front-end would also have to do it when you OK the ICS Options dialog
with the option set, and it could be that only the WinBoard front-end
does do that, but not XBoard.
I will compare the two front-ends, to make sure.
