Well, when I start XBoard in German and load GNU Chess through the menu dialog it also works.
Can you start XBoard as "xboard -debug" and load GNU Chess (presumably causing XBoard to exit), and then send us the created xboard.debug file? Perhaps that will shed some light on the matter. It is very strange that selecting the engine from the command line (with -fcp) would make the engine behave differently than when selecting it from the dialog. (In fact OK'ing the dialog will just create a line "-fcp XXX" for the given engine command, and process that if it were the command line.) The only explanation I can think of so far is that you have multiple versions of GNU Chess on your system, (and that you browse to a different one than what would beinvokedwhen just typing the command), and that some of those crash in certain locales. _______________________________________________ Bug-XBoard mailing list Bug-XBoard@gnu.org https://lists.gnu.org/mailman/listinfo/bug-xboard
