Summary: Contacts with Evolution addressbook.db does not start
Product: OpenMoko
Version: 2007.2
Platform: Macintosh
OS/Version: MacOS X
Status: NEW
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: openmoko-contacts
AssignedTo: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
ReportedBy: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
CC: [email protected]
When I uploaded my evolution addressbook.db to openmoko I noticed that contacts
stopped starting at
all. On terminal I got message:
*** glibc detected *** openmoko-contacts: munmap_chunk(): invalid pointer:
0x0002c3960 ***
Aborted
I'd like to help solving this issue but how can I do that without exposing you
my addressbook? :)

Notification shouldn't be handled by openmoko-messages2 as it isn't always
running - I'd suggest that the gsm-applet handle this. What do others think?

Did you close and kill evolution and evolution-data-server before copying the
file from your desktop?

Oh, and the way to help debug this is to run contacts in gdb and get a stack
trace so we know what is breaking. My money is on libdb, which implies a
corrupted addressbook.

Kill evolution-data-server and try again. If the db file is open it could be in
an inconsistent state.

Killing evoltion do not helps.
I noticed that when I uploaded other address book, openmoko-contacts were
starting ok and contacts
were visible.
Here's how I made my addressbook.db:
1) On my Mac (10.5) I exported all contacts to vcf file
2) On my Ubuntu Linux PC I imported contacts to Evolution - all contacts are
visible, editable etc
3) I quit evolution and killed evolution server
3) I copied addressbook.* from ~/.evolution/addressbook/local/[EMAIL PROTECTED]
into /home/root/.evolution/addressbook/local/system
How can I help? I do not have gdb on my phone...

Just copy the .db file, don't copy the summary file.
If you don't have gdb available and can't install it, then you'll have to give
us your addressbook. If you can replicate with a test addressbook with only one
dummy contact, even better.

I haven't loaded it into EDS yet, but strings doesn't show a Jabber field...
It does show some very strange fields, I guess this is exported from MacOS?

If contact has more than one telephone no. i cannot call him - i click on
contact, then click left top icon
(dial?), a dialog apears: "Please choose a number t" and i do not know how to
choose one - dialog seems
to hang (not responding), it quits after a while.

I do not know if that matters but my contacts are taken from vcf file from my
Mac (they are imported into
evolution of course). Contact have names for phones such as: OTHER;pref;CELL -
could that matter?
As a name for phone I mean name displayed beside little telephone icon visiblem
for example while
editing contact.

It might be connected with #1120. When I try to edit contact (even with one
phone number) edit field gets
constantly focus and unfocused which makes it impossible to edit.

Calling to a contact with one phone does not work either - I select contact,
push dial icon, it gets
highlighted for about 20s and nothing happens.
