After looking into this, I think what most people are seeing is that a call
won't be recorded against a contact if that contact didn't exist when phone-kit
was started (so when X was started) - This isn't how the entries should be
looked up though really as even if phone-kit kept its contacts list up-to-date,
this would still break in a number of cases.
I'll change this so contacts does its own matching of contact numbers<->journal
entries (and add SMS messages too).

I'm not really sure what's the best way to go about this... Should I just add a
command-line parameter to openmoko-messages2 and call it from contacts, or
should we use dbus? Or something else? Comments appreciated.

I'm working on something similar. There is no way to add contact
from dialer history. I'm missing this feature. I decided to use dbus
for this purpose. You can find my patches here:
http://www.w-ww.org/~rmoravcik/openmoko/dialer_add_contact_from_history.patch
http://www.w-ww.org/~rmoravcik/openmoko/contacts_add_contact_dbus.patch
And one screenshot:
http://www.w-ww.org/~rmoravcik/openmoko/dialer_history.png
Dialer patch include also some other changes (it remove brackets
from incoming clip, this should be done also in gsmd, disable toolbar
buttons, if nothing is selected...). I'm not expert for dbus stuff
and I don't know if it is integrated correctly to contacts application.
Any comments, suggestions?

I just started working on a gtk based alternative to the current virtual
keyboard that I plan to call "gtKeypad". I thought this might add to visual
consistency across the entire desktop theme.
The xml file format for keypad layout is very similar to what already exists.
I'll post the code in its current state on OpenMokoProjects soon after I get
approval for the project. It is very much a work in progress at this point &
I've only been working on it on my computer desktop. I don't plan on trying it
in qemu for the moko until all the required functionality and formating is
complete.

Fixed in r396 - Please open separate bugs for display format and not showing SMS
messages (I'll work on these next though, regardless of bugzilla)

First glance this looks good to me, I'll ask Thomas if he'll have a look, he'll
know the contacts/dialer stuff better than me I think. Only thing I can think of
is that you'll want to make the button insensitive if the contact exists already
(I think there's a convenience function in dialer to look up numbers already
(although it's a little broken at the mo, but I can fix that))

Patches look good to me, although I don't think it solves the original bug
report?

No, that patches doesn't solve original bug report. It was something
like proposal, how should be solved this issue.
I think, similar dbus interface should be added to the openmoko-messages
and "send sms" button from dialer or contacts application could use that
interface.

[This e-mail has been automatically generated.]
You have one or more bugs assigned to you in the Bugzilla
bugsystem (http://bugzilla.openmoko.org/cgi-bin/bugzilla/) that require
attention.
All of these bugs are in the NEW state, and have not been touched
in 7 days or more. You need to take a look at them, and
decide on an initial action.
Generally, this means one of three things:
(1) You decide this bug is really quick to deal with (like, it's INVALID),
and so you get rid of it immediately.
(2) You decide the bug doesn't belong to you, and you reassign it to someone
else. (Hint: if you don't know who to reassign it to, make sure that
the Component field seems reasonable, and then use the "Reassign bug to
owner of selected component" option.)
(3) You decide the bug belongs to you, but you can't solve it this moment.
Just use the "Accept bug" command.
To get a list of all NEW bugs, you can use this URL (bookmark it if you like!):
http://bugzilla.openmoko.org/cgi-bin/bugzilla/buglist.cgi?bug_status=NEW&[EMAIL
PROTECTED]
Or, you can use the general query page, at
http://bugzilla.openmoko.org/cgi-bin/bugzilla/query.cgi.
Appended below are the individual URLs to get to all of your NEW bugs that
haven't been touched for a week or more.
You will get this message once a day until you've dealt with these bugs!

<quote from Andrzej's mail:>
openmoko/qemu-auto.sh
launches qemu and opens a unix socket for communication. All
additional parameters are passed to qemu. (e.g. openmoko/qemu-auto.sh
-nographic launches the virtual machine with no graphics etc.).
openmoko/qemu-upload.sh <filename>
produces a SD card image with one partition with the given file(s)
on it (you can pass a list of files) and inserts it into the phone.
The OpenMoko kernel should detect the event and the automounter should
mount the partition. openmoko/qemu-auto.sh must be running already. If
you pass no parameters, it ejects the media (the OM kernel is too dumb
to detect this unfortunately). This will only work with gta01
emulation because gta02 has no SD.
openmoko/qemu-quit.sh
powers the VM down cleanly.
openmoko/qemu-gadget.sh
attempts to connect target's S3C USB slave to host's dummy HCD (if
present and gadgetfs is mounted).
