Yep, this solves the issue. I'm hoping this is added to the default
Openmoko image soon.
Thanks for the help

Looking at my current workload I'm happy to git-cherry-pick/git-am a
change from any of you. I sadly lack the time to do that myself.

Comment(by andy):
Great work finding a workaround... we play a trick to get fast resume,
reloading WM8753 registers takes 700ms, so we push it off into a workqueue
so it can complete parallel with rest of resume rather than holding us up.
Alsa stuff has good locking concept that allows us to freeze stuff using
Alsa assets until this is completed, but I wonder if this /sys guy is not
under that lock, in which case pulseaudio might be exposed to stuff that
is still "in a state of undress". (BTW this trick originated here has gone
into upstream Alsa).
I confirmed here just now that aplay still continues to play fine without
pulseaudio around if interrupted by apm -s, it does throw underrun
complaint but it is legitimate considering what we are doing.
I guess we need a change to pulseaudio package so it inserts these
/etc/apm/* actions I am afraid I have no idea how to do that with OE.

#1642: Discharged backup battery prevents power-on

From what I can tell, a discharged backup battery (not the big main
battery that everyone normally has problems with, the tiny coin cell
battery that you can't see unless you take the front cover off and you
can't replace without doing some soldering) will prevent any sort of
powering-on of either a Neo1973 or FreeRunner.
Three of my four GTA devices have backup battery voltages less than 0.7V,
and consequently no longer work. The good device has a backup battery
voltage of 2.0V and works fine.
See http://article.gmane.org/gmane.comp.handhelds.openmoko.kernel/3847 for
details.

If the neod menu is what is displayed when pressing the "power button",
then I confirm, on the 2007.2 standard FR system.

#1643: strip unwanted non-digits from SMS numbers

Hi,
While the dialer works fine if I use a number that contains a / or other
non-digits, e.g. when using a number from the phone book, I can not send
SMS without manually removing the slash first.
I assume this is caused by this code in libgsmd_sms.c:
{{{
int lgsm_number2addr(struct gsmd_addr *dst, const char *src, int skipplus)
{
char *ch;
if (strlen(src) + 1 > sizeof(dst->number))
return 1;
if (src[0] == '+') {
dst->type =
GSMD_TOA_NPI_ISDN |
GSMD_TOA_TON_INTERNATIONAL |
GSMD_TOA_RESERVED;
strcpy(dst->number, src + skipplus);
} else {
dst->type =
GSMD_TOA_NPI_ISDN |
GSMD_TOA_TON_UNKNOWN |
GSMD_TOA_RESERVED;
strcpy(dst->number, src);
}
for (ch = dst->number; *ch; ch ++)
if (*ch < '0' || *ch > '9')
return 1;
return 0;
}
}}}
The last lines throw away any number that contains non-digits. If these
are a problem, they should be stripped instead of thrown away. But I might
be wrong, and the number should already be stripped at some other point...
The bug was reported on the mailing list by others as well.
