tried the updated packages. They didn't make much difference.
Well, what about trying a real number? *123 fails with "NO CARRIER" and
this makes the callscreen go away...

I'd be happy to run evtest, but I can't find a package and my attempts at
compiling it have failed. You couldn't provide or point to a binary that
would work?

Comment(by hedora):
Actually, I don't think I've ever tried a real number w/ the qtopia
dialer.
However, I've never had a problem with *123 on the other images. That's
my voicemail box, so it's a pretty important number...
I just reflashed the phone to FSO. Any idea how to get the GSM modem logs
out of it to see what 2008.8 is doing differently? They're not in logread
or /tmp/x.log.
Will reflash to 2008.8 + test w/ a real number.

Both of these versions are not part of OM2008.8. With your version of
Xglamo it is understandable as it is lacking
http://git.openmoko.org/?p=xglamo.git;a=commit;h=cddd780c527fe923c55c1fa385fd909c419f024e
this. With the original bug report the latest version was installed (but
not from OM2008.8). If possible upgrade to OM2008.8 or at least get the
latest Xglamo installed.

That is the number that lets me check my voicemail message. See comments
in bug #1766 for more information. I haven't tried other "special"
numbers that let me contact my phone company.
*123 works fine in 2007.2 and FSO.
