#1835: A better fix for host endianness of dfu-util

Replying to [comment:2 RuiSeabra]:
{{{
dfu_upload error -62
}}}
I don't 100% understand the DFU mechanism, but looking at dfu-util it
doesn't look to me like your error -62 is an endianness problem. (I don't
know what it is, though. Applying the patch I attached to #1842 might
produce more informative output. It should probably go in another trac
ticket though.)

Comment(by wiml):
FWIW, I'm seeing a similar problem. I saw it twice with the original
firmware that was on my GTA02 when I bought it; this prompted me to
upgrade to 2008.8 (uImage and rootfs via dfu-util), and it's still
happening pretty regularly.
{{{

and the images I installed (should be the "standard" 2008.8 ?):

New description:
It seems like dfu-util upload results in a corrupted image.
the problem seems to be independant of hardware.
--
remark: dfu-util upload means from device -> pc
dfu uses upload/download in a 'device centric' view, NOT in a 'host
centric' one

Comment(by RuiSeabra):
Of two laptops with the same Ubuntu version (8.04, Heron), only fails on
the AMD64.
I read somewhere in the wiki that it would fail with that 62 error... but
maybe the other report was wrong... I'll check 1842 later on.

Comment(by Yorick):
I have the same problem on a fully upgraded 2007.2 and a uboot from a week
ago or something:
gestures don't work,
hexdump /dev/input/event2 returns nothing
hexdump /dev/input/event3 returns nothing
cat /sys/devices/platform/spi_s3c24xx_gpio.1/spi0.0/dump and cat
/sys/devices/platform/spi_s3c24xx_gpio.1/spi0.1/dump always return the
same thing:
00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 3b
84 97 95 11 12 03 03 85 10 db 00 08 00 00 00 00
47 00 e4 00 00 00 00 ff 00 0b 00 d7 00 2c 00 00
00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00
several reboots did not fix anything
