Okay, known to some. My -dev and -testing feed contains upgraded Qtopia
packages that should fix that issue (RDY not coming for some people... I'm
sorry for having created that in the first place in an attempt to fix
another issue, but %CSTAT is underdocumented...)

What does the output of top say? any chance that qpe is "just" scanning
the sd card?

possibly .. I didn't know that qpe is scanning the sd card. but there were
about 200 MB OpenStreetMap tiles on which could keep anybody busy who
tries to scan it. I will check without SD card

Okay, I'm a bit slow but my -dev and -testing feed should have a possible
bugfix (for a problem I created by trying to fix another one...).

without SD card, everything is fine. Why is the dialer scanning the SD
card ? is this a known issue or shall I open a seperate bugreport.
Anyway: Lots of thanks for fixing the GSM issue!

Replying to [comment:2 RuiSeabra]:
> Although my backup did go on for about 50MB longer than previously, the
proposed patch isn't a full fix, unfortunately.
please do not confuse this issue (endian problems) with dfu-util upload
(device->computer) 'backup' problems.
that is bug #676 / #1843
means your problems in comment:2 and comment:4 have probably nothing do to
with this ticket.
