#1834: openmoko-dialer2 crashes when no dbus connection could be set (bad error
init)
--------------------------+-------------------------------------------------
    Reporter:  LeRoutier  |        Owner:  julian_chu
        Type:  defect     |       Status:  new
    Priority:  highest    |    Milestone:
   Component:  Distro     |      Version:
    Severity:  normal     |   Resolution:

Reproducible:             |     Blocking:
--------------------------+-------------------------------------------------

Comment(by LeRoutier):

 My problem here is that when no DBUS connection could be done, it crashes
 because of a buffer overflow : the buffer that should contain the error
 message has a hardcoded 100 bytes length but in my case, the error message
 length is far longer.

 At least, "sprintf( buffer," should be replaced by snprintf or "g_snprintf
 ( buffer, LENGTH,"

 As we use glib functions, g_snprintf should be prefered.

#1864: Keyboard needs to have a non-predictive mode

-------------------------+--------------------------------------------------
 Having installed the 2008.8 release dated 26/08/2008 & illume-config I
 have found the keyboard to be useless for a wide range of input forms
 simply because it does not feature the option to be used without
 predictive input.

 I cannot, for example, add a map repository to TangoGPS because "www" is
 not in the predictive dictionary. Presumably the rest of the URL is also
 not in the predictive dictionary.

 The keyboard needs to the option of working without a predictive mode.

Comment(by Yorick):

 I 100% agree with you; furthermore the the full querty keyboard should
 also be easely installed.
 It would even make sence making the full qwerty the default one and the
 current one optional, because right now the phone is not yet used by "the
 massas" why might not be interested in typing in the terminal.

 in the mean time:
 you can press and hold a letter
 then stroke from left to right with your finger/stylus
 this is a very annoying way to type text (requiring several
 seconds/character) but it might help you out at the moment

Comment:

 the config in the updates removes the gadget as that is what was always
 requested by om's design department. the spanner was never meant to be
 available to the public and the whole config theme hack is just that - a
 nasty hack on top of a release of code that was not ready (an earlier
 release of illume was let out rather than the one i prepared), so you
 won't be getting the spanner back, UNLESS you literally rm -rf ~/.e/ and
 set up a new config of your own. right now asu.dev ships with 2 config
 profiles - asu and illume. illume will get you what you want - edit
 /etc/enlightenment/default_profile to change that (even this is a hack and
 i will eventually make this redundant - but i suspect ASU (2008.08) will
 keep using it. FSO should continue with the cleaner mechanism when i get
 to fixing it all up.

 so as such - that spanner was not meant to be in the release and it's
 simply a back door hack that doesn't work anymore. so i will have to close
 this.

Comment(by Yorick):

 you can also edit your file ~/.gconf/apps/tangogps/%gconf.xml when ssh'd
 in

 you can use my file: http://pastebin.com/f1aae45d2
 note: on line 4 and 7 you have to edit two stringvalues (if you want to
 use the friends-feature in tangoGPS)

Comment(by Yorick):

 after removing and once again installing accelges hexdump keeps working in
 2008.8-upgraded,

 removing gestures (accelges) does not solve it for 2007.2
