Okay, I just tried to get a backtrace from the coredump with my compiled
version of Qtopia and did not get anywhere. This means we need a way to
reproduce this. E.g. is this with SD card in or not?

Duplicate of #1192. This alert is just there to inform that a crash has
happened. The fix is within the GSM firmware (or at least understand why
the crash happens).

According to your log we get +CME ERROR 512 which indicates some sort of
modem crash. Please see #1192 and recent versions of Openmoko Qtopia have
code to detect that situation and inform the user.

Comment:
I don't understand. Could you provide the output of logread as
http://wiki.openmoko.org/wiki/Bug_Filing_Policy to understand what "does
not register" actually means?
Do you propose to start Qtopia first and then turn the modem on? I'm a bit
confused.
