Replying to [comment:28 nelg]:
> I am still getting told the is a strong echo on the line when I make
calls to other people using om2008.12. I don't hear an echo on my end.
Have you verified that om2008.12 is sending AT%N0187 before every call and
not just the first one?

Comment(by mickey):
Thanks for your comments!
First off, ntp has not been rewritten. Second, ntp lacks critical features
that are necessary on systems such as a smartphone. E.g.
* getting time and timezone from GSM
* getting timezone based on the provider we are currently registered with
* getting time from GPS
Third, we did consider to extend ntp in the first place, but did not do
this yet since adding some logics in frameworkd to quickly improve the
user experience was a much lower hanging fruit. There is even task for
that in the FSO bugtracker [http://trac.freesmartphone.org/ticket/254],
albeit somehow slightly misnamed.
We will take your points into account for further work, especially
1.,3.,4.,5. seem reasonable to me. Oh by the way, you can disable otimed
or even individual time provider if you don't want it -- so I consider 2.
being fixed already.
If you have some time, we'd appreciate some ntp plugins that implement the
missing features. Also a dbus interface would be handy.

Comment(by lindi):
Hmm, surely ntpd can get time from GPS? See "USE WITH NTP" section of
http://gpsd.berlios.de/gpsd.html
I'm also sure we can extend it to get time from GSM. I can't personally
test this since my operator is not sending time via GSM (as far as I
know).

I've added a S3C6410 variant of my gpio utility in
http://svn.openmoko.org/trunk/src/target/gpio/
We already have a package called s3c24xx-gpio that provides the
"gpio" utility. So it would be nice if we could have a receipe
for gpio-s3c6410 as well.
Thanks,
- Werner

Our 20080916 toolchain was made before we added
caching to opkg and it also has the problem of gdb using libexpat
version 0 while more and more distributions are now shipping
version 1. So it would be good to build a new toolchain.
Thanks,
- Werner

#2049: Illume dynamic dictionary has some problems...

Comment(by Treviño):
That's true.
I've seen that bug many times and my "workaround" was that of adding both
the capitalized and non-capitalized versions of some words that can be in
both ways...
This makes the things a little more usable.
