I seem to remember we had crashes at some point when someone would try to up the wlan device directly (instead of using a wlan(4) interface). Could the cause have been this? I had to add load command to loader.conf in order for the device to be recognized. After that wpi0 showed up and when I try to "up" it system crashes.
