Issue #3046 has been updated by isenmann. Status changed from New to Closed
With commit 903751fa380f296970c22f566e8849232c8f6e97 (Revert "Update drm/radeon to Linux 4.7.10 as much as possible...") I can use the system again with radeonkms. ---------------------------------------- Bug #3046: Immediate reboot on kldload radeonkms http://bugs.dragonflybsd.org/issues/3046#change-13247 * Author: isenmann * Status: Closed * Priority: Normal * Assignee: * Category: * Target version: ---------------------------------------- After the update from DragonFly 4.6 to 4.8 my (not so recent) desktop system (AMD Phenom(tm) II X6 1045T Processor / Sapphire RadeonHD 6450 FleX / two screens) became unstable. After about 20min to 1hour I got a) a sudden reboot b) random pixel (noise) on the whole screen c) the screen kept blank after idle/powersafe In the case of (b) and (c) I could in most cases access the system over the network (ssh) and kill the X server, with about a two to one chance that the X server was restarted and useable or a complete lockup. Since the update to DragonFly 4.9 I get sudden reboots on any attempt to start the X server (without xorg.conf) or when I execute "kldload radeonkms". With driver "vesa" in /etc/X11/xorg.conf the system is useable (apart from the ugly resolution). What is also strange (probably already since 4.8, but I am not sure) are bad rendering errors. When moving the mouse cursor (moused) on any of the virtual consoles, part of the mouse cursor and the character under the cursor get rendered in three to seven or more previous cursor positions. -- Götz Isenmann -- You have received this notification because you have either subscribed to it, or are involved in it.
