After spending some time converting a DF based router to FreeBSD, in order to use an LTE modem as primary WAN in a mobile environment, it seems there is likely much more involved in order to make DF work with LTE modems than just updating u3g. It appears that at a minimum the "cu" utility, the net/mpd5 port and/or the in kernel PPP would also need to be synced. DragonFly can't be all things to all people. Apparently the u3g kernel module used in FreeBSD supports a number of newer LTE modems, whereas the DF version of u3g is several years behind.
