People probe for open proxies all the time in an attempt to conceal their  
identity.  Just because they made the request doesn't mean it worked.  You  
didn't say what the response code in the log was.  For an arbitrary URL,  
probably 404 or 403.  For http://www.somesite.com/, probably 200 -- but even  
that doesn't mean the proxying actually worked; it probably means Apache served 
 the request with your own default virtual host.  For further assistance on
